International Societies or Associations
- Australian Society of Special Care in Dentistry (ASSCID) was established in August 1997. The association has 65 members representing every state and territory in the country.
- Australian Society of Dental Anaesthesiology (ASDA, previously ASAASD in 1970) was formed to cater for the special needs of dental practitioners interested in dental anaesthesiology, pain control, and patient anxiety management.
- British Society of Disability and Oral Health (BSDH). The aim of this society is to bring together all those interested in the oral care of people with disabilities.
- International Association of Disability and Oral Health (iADH) is concerned about the well-being of people with disabilities and disadvantages, working together within their communities, professional societies and social or service organizations.
- International Federation of Dental Anaesthesiology Societies (IFDAS) is an international organisation of dental and/or medical societies engaged in education, research and improved methods of treatment in the fields of pain and anxiety control.
- Irish Society for Disability and Oral Health (ISDH), established in 2002, serves to promote, preserve and protect the oral health of people with disabilities. They place high value in members’ views and involvement in the running of the society.
- Nordic Association for Disability and Oral Health (NFH-NORDEN) is to promote oral health and quality of life for people with disabilities in the Nordic countries.
- Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry (SAAD) is a dental charity dedicated to provide postgraduate education by running courses encouraging the safe provision of conscious sedation for dentistry.
- Special Care Dentistry Association US (SCDA) serves as a resource to all oral health care professionals who serve or are interested in serving patients with special needs through education and networking to increase access to oral healthcare for patients with special needs.
